2 Corinthians 5:11-17

A caterpillar goes through a transformation to become a butterfly. Similar to this transformation, you must fundamentally change to become a new creation in Christ. The old self passes away, and the new self is revealed.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Reflection and Application

As a believer, you are no longer the old person you used to be but a new creation in Christ. You do not have to be stuck on the past. 

The Apostle Paul experienced a transformation. Not only did his name change from Saul to Paul, but his entire identity changed. Instead of being a Pharisee and persecutor of Christians, people regarded him as a brother in Christ.

Despite others' perceptions of you and your past mistakes, you can live as a new creation in Christ. 

You are defined by the work of Christ rather than your past. God knows your true identity, so believe and walk in that new identity. Focus on your growth and sanctification.
