Do You Love the Gift More Than the Giver?

Mister Brown

I was lifting weights this morning when a single lyric stopped me in my tracks. It hit me: how often do I fall in love with the invention while completely ignoring the Inventor? Today on Connecting Faith and Life, I am diving into Romans 1 to talk about the human tendency to worship the gift rather than the Giver. Whether it is our comfort, our kids, or our successes, it is so easy to let a good thing become an "ultimate" thing. Let’s talk about how to pivot our hearts back to the One who sustains it all.

In what ways do we sometimes "worship comfort" or "worship pleasure" in our daily lives?

What is one thing in your life right now that you need to hold with an open hand instead of a tight fist?

If God is the "greatest gift," how does that change the way we look at our material possessions?
