Get Wisdom
A look at the book of Proverbs
If you could have three wishes, what would they be? I know what I’d ask for; unlimited wishes, maybe a new car, some money.

How about you? What if you could have anything you wanted? What kinds of things would you ask for?

This question was posed to King Solomon in the Bible. Solomon was the son of David who was the king of Israel and Solomon became king after David died. Solomon wasn’t perfect, but he walked with the Lord and when God asked him what he wanted, Solomon asked for one thing and it wasn’t for more wishes.

Solomon didn’t ask for fame and riches. Solomon asked for wisdom.

The Bible says this, “Give your servant, therefore, an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” 1 Kings 3:9

Solomon had an opportunity from God to ask for anything he wanted. But instead of asking for fame and fortune, he asked for understanding and wisdom to lead God’s people. This pleased the Lord and you can see that when you read 1 Kings 3:10-15.

31 Days of Wisdom Series
We can see more of Solomon’s wisdom and the wisdom of others when we read the book of Proverbs. Solomon didn’t always make the best choices, but he was very wise and we can thank God for that.

This blog and video series will go through the book of Proverbs. It’s important to remember that the Proverbs aren't promised, but they are statements you can apply to your life to help you make better choices. As I like to say, when you make better choices you will live a better life and this series will help you with that.

The series is called Get Wisdom. God gave Solomon wisdom and that wisdom was evident in Solomon right away. We can look at Proverbs and apply what is said to get some wisdom ourselves.

You can watch a video, listen to it, or read about it at ProclaimMinistries.com/GetWisdom [link]. I won’t go in-depth on the whole book of Proverbs, but I encourage you to get in the Word of God. I’ll focus on a verse and you can read the chapter to get the Word of God in you.
