God's Love | 1 John 3:1

I was inspired to do this devotional from a quote that I heard. I didn’t think the original quote was complete, so I added two words to it. Can you guess which two words I added? Here’s the quote:

“No scale can measure how much we are loved or how incredibly precious we are to God.”

Yep, I added the last two words, “to God.” No scale can measure how much God loves us. We don’t have to earn God’s love or perform a certain way in order to receive it. God’s love is eternal and unfailing. God loves us unconditionally, freely, and forever.

Marinate in that a bit. Do you believe what God says about you? Do you consider yourself precious in His sight?

1 John 3:1 “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

God’s love is free and it is hard to fathom. Even though God knows us and our sin, He still loves us and His love motivates us.

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 “For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.”

Because Christ died for us, we live for Him. God’s love motivates us to live for Him.

Psalm 139:17-18 “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.”

I encourage you to marinate in God’s love for you.

What verses come to mind for you when you think of God’s love?
