Psalm 119:11 | Hide God's Word In Your Heart

Mister Brown

Help kids hide God's word in their hearts by memorizing Bible verses and explaining what they mean. Start with this one: Psalm 119:11 "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against you." A good way to memorize Scripture is by saying it out loud starting with the Bible Address or the reference (in this case the Address is Psalm 119:1). Then say the Bible verse, followed by the Bible Address again.
Psalm 119:11 explanation:
[1:55] "your word" - God's Word to people; The Bible
[2:19] "I have hidden" - Taking something precious and putting it away somewhere safe. Some versions may say, "I have treasured," or "I have stored up".
[2:44] "in my heart" - Your mind, thoughts, and emotions. The idea is that God's Word is being stored close to you where you can easily access it, remember it, and think about it whenever you want to.
[3:40] "that I may not sin against you" - Sin is anything you think, say, or do that displeases God or breaks God's law. Sin also hurts you and other people. It helps to think of it this way: God is the Creator. He created the world and all that is in, so God gets to make the rules. Hiding God's Word in your heart will help you not sin against Him and it will help keep you safe and others too.
