Your Investment Mattters | Proclaim Partners Changing Lives
One of my favorite illustrations is the picture of seedtime and harvest.
A seed is planted. It is watered. It is cultivated. Over time, it grows. And eventually, there is a harvest.
That picture reminds me so much of ministry.
Through Proclaim Ministries—and even through the opportunities God gives me in public schools—I get to plant seeds in the lives of kids and teens. Sometimes I am planting a new seed. Sometimes I am watering a seed that a parent, teacher, church leader, or family member has already planted.
It is a privilege. But if I am honest, it can also be difficult because I do not always get to see the harvest.
I may teach a child a Bible verse, encourage a student, or create a resource that reaches a family, but I may never personally see everything God does with that seed.
Over the years, I have learned to hold on to a simple motto:
Obey God and trust Him for the results.
The apostle Paul described ministry in a similar way:
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
1 Corinthians 3:6.
We each have a part to play. Some plant. Some water. But only God can bring true spiritual growth.
Sometimes God Lets Us See the Seed Growing
Every once in a while, God allows us to see a glimpse of what He is doing.
In the video connected to this update, I share a moment that still encourages me. A little girl from our church, who was around four years old at the time, recited one of the most important memory verses we teach:
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4,
She was little. She was adorable. And yes, hearing a young child recite a long passage from the King James Version was pretty impressive.
But that moment was about far more than something cute.
That little girl was learning the gospel.
She was learning that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. She was hiding truth in her heart that can stay with her for the rest of her life.
That is what planting seeds looks like.
We Are Making an Investment in the Future
When we teach children the Bible in a way they can understand and remember, we are not simply helping them complete a lesson for today.
We are investing in their future.
We are helping children grow up knowing the truth about Jesus. We are giving them words of hope to remember when life becomes confusing or difficult. We are building a foundation that God can continue to use for years to come.
I am already beginning to see that kind of harvest in my own ministry.
Today, I am teaching children whose mother was once a student in my youth group. Years ago, I had the privilege of investing in her life. Now, I get to help teach her children.
That is a beautiful reminder that the seeds we plant today may continue growing long after we ever imagined.
Some of the seeds we plant may bear fruit in a child’s life now. Others may grow as that child becomes an adult, raises a family, serves in a church, encourages someone else, or teaches the next generation.
We may see some of that harvest in our lifetime. We may not see all of it until eternity.
But the investment still matters.
Proclaim Partners, You Are Part of This
This is why I wanted to share this video with our Proclaim Partners.
When you give to Proclaim Ministries, you are not simply supporting videos, lessons, technology, or programs.
You are helping plant gospel seeds.
Through your giving and prayers, you help us reach kids and teens with biblical truth. You help us create resources that connect faith and life. You help us equip parents, church leaders, and caring adults to disciple the next generation with clarity and confidence.
This is not a “me” thing.
This is an “us” thing.
Together, we are planting seeds. Together, we are watering seeds. And together, we are trusting God to give the increase.
Some of the children reached through this ministry may grow up remembering a Bible verse they learned as a child. Some may come to understand the gospel more clearly. Some may one day disciple their own children. Some may become leaders, teachers, parents, pastors, or faithful followers of Jesus who help plant seeds in others.
And through your support, you are part of that story.
