8.25.26 | Five Promises, Guilt & Shame & Forevergreen | Proclaim PULSE

Welcome to another edition of Proclaim PULSE—our weekly update designed to help you get the pulse of the ministry.

In this episode, I start with praise and something God has been reminding me of lately: seasons have reasons—in life and in nature. I don’t always enjoy every season, but I’m learning to appreciate how God uses the sunny seasons, the rainy seasons, the difficult seasons, and even the seasons I would rather skip to produce growth.

As I get older, I’m seeing more clearly that God knew exactly what He was doing when He created a world with seasons—and there is a powerful parallel to the seasons we experience in life.

I also share a ministry update and give a special thank-you to Ruthie for the incredible work she has done helping us develop curriculum for Proclaim Ministries.

After our summer Heroes series, we’re jumping back into Five Promises of God You Can Hold On To:

God saves me.

God stays with me.

God loves me.

God forgives me.

God welcomes me.

We’ve already taught the first two promises, and now we’re moving into Promise #3: God loves me—fully, freely, and forever. I’m excited about continuing to develop this curriculum, along with video teaching and other resources that we can eventually make available to churches beyond our own VC Family.

Then I wrestle with a question I think many of us have asked:

Will God really forgive me again?

I’ve asked that question myself. First John 1:9 has been an important verse in my life because I’ve had to come back to God again and again, confessing my sin and trusting His faithfulness.

One of the biggest things I want you to remember from this episode is:

Don’t let shame have the final word.

Sin may be real. Guilt may be real. The consequences of our choices may be real. But shame does not get the final word—God does. When I fall short, God doesn’t invite me to run away from Him. He invites me to draw near, confess, receive

His forgiveness, and remember who I am because of Christ.

I also share about a short film called Forever Green that we recently showed our VC Kids. It tells a beautiful and emotional story that gave us an opportunity to talk with the kids about the Five Promises of God—especially what it means to belong, to be loved, and to know that someone isn’t going to give up on you. I highly recommend watching it, and even better, watching it with other people so you can talk about it together.

Finally, I have a simple challenge:

Tell two people.
